Ugo Correani beaded necklace. It’s one of the best kept secrets in jewelry fashion. For two decades, starting in 1973, the Rome-born designer worked behind the scenes at his Milan atelier for some of the biggest names in the industry, including Chanel, Versace, Valentino and Christian Lacroix. When Correani died in 1992, he was not known outside the circles of fashion insiders and his close-knit collaborators. He had no heirs, his archives had disappeared and his legacy and history were largely lost. Along with his small production runs, the designer’s work has become notoriously difficult to track down today.
